Self defense techniques or Hoshin-sul enhance self-confidence.
It can be acquired by everybody, allowing them in case of need to neutralize an aggressor.

It comprises various locks and counters, providing protection from arm and leg attack techniques, as well as from sticks, knives and other everyday objects.

These exercises in self-defence require assiduous practice.

They allow particular attack situations and the protection of particular targets to be studied and prepared.

This involves different compositions of attack, followed by all sorts of different clearances, locks and grappling techniques against one or more assailants.

Joint control, the neutralization of different strikes, punches and kicks, and defense work from everyday objects such as knives and sticks, as well as conventional weapons come especially to the fore.

Defending from a punch Defending from a grab

The most important principles are the sense of observation, lightness of movement, control of the centre of gravity, the closing and opening of distance, and the use of the body’s weight.

The study of a wide range of techniques from the simplest to the most developed will make practice more interesting.

Beyond a certain level of practice the use of pressure points is studied in great detail.

The transfer of these techniques with the greatest possible precision must also be applied in the spirit of defensive taekwondo.

The fundamental idea is to neutralize and control one or more opponents – to neutralize them without causing injury, thus preserving each participant in body and personal integrity.

The basic idea is to neutralize and control one or more opponents to neutralize without the idea of the injury.

  • The release of execution;
  • Joint Control
  • Defence against punches, kicks and weapons (knives, sticks and other objects).

The principles discussed are:

  • The control of the centre of gravity;
  • Weight displacement;
  • The deployment of the body’s weight when striking;
  • The gaze.
